— H2a Botanicals

I have been searching for 12 months plus for an all natural face wash that not only works with, but enhances my complexion, I’ve tried about four different brands and natural products, none which have satisfied me, with a couple actually disappointing me after realising they are not as natural as they are marketed to be! Finally through a moment of feeling inspired by this path of holistic beauty and brand transparency, my path crossed with H2a Botanicals!

H2a Botanicals is a Colorado based brand, created by daughter Sierra, and mother Heather Goldstein. Their philosophy aligns perfectly with mine, using organic plant based ingredients that harmonise vibrant health and beauty (for ourselves AND the planet), through a holistic and sacred approach to self-care , their ingredients are all organic, with their herbs being both grown and harvested themselves - talk about full power! This duo aspire for the wider community to be able to connect daily with Nature, and enjoy both the beauty and the bliss that naturally flows from sacred self-care rituals, rituals that are soul-enriching, rather than needing to use another product or adding an extra chore to our daily routine. I speak for a few women when I say we have been asking for this, and my gosh I feel so grateful that people like Sierra and Heather exist, to have humans with both the knowledge, passion, patience and integrity to create such powerful and healing holistic beauty products that enhance the innate beauty and wellness of other beings, lights me up with so much gratitude!

The H2a product line is a skincare revolution with daily connection to the earth and a reminder of her healing qualities and wisdom.

What I have noticed using this face cleanser so far, is that it cleanses my skin without causing any pimples, irritation, or over oiliness - there is a slight oily feeling after use (the cleanser is oil based after all), however it feels balanced and as though the skin has been nourished. This result may take a little bit of getting used to if you’re used to a foaming cleanser that dries out the skin. I find conventional face cleansers dry out my skin too much, to the point where my skin is then stimulated to produce excess oil later on, creating constant imbalance between over dry and over oily. A couple of ‘natural’ cream cleansers that I tried last year, which also turned out to not be as natural as they were marketed to be, seemed to create too much oil for my skin which resulted in pimples. I find this white yarrow & red clover cleanser by H2a Botanicals offers balanced moisture, it neither dries out or over moisturises my skin. My skin feels both cleansed and nourished. Additionally I find I do not need to use it every day, I tend to use it every two to three days, or I might use it every day for three days in a row, then have one or two days break, just depending on how my skin feels and what I have been doing, if I have been mainly amongst nature and swimming in the ocean I find my skin doesn’t require too much extra help with cleansing, if I have been traveling and/or in the city, I enjoy using the cleanser daily.

The ingredients in this cleanser are both wildcrafted and organic, they include: sunflower oil, saponified olive oil, black cumin seed oilBulgarian rose water, vitamin EDermosoft Eco (plant derived blend based on organic acids with broad antimicrobial activity), custom essential oil blend. Infused with wildcrafted and organic red clover, white willow bark, calendula, thyme, white yarrow (personal favourite that has been continuously crossing my path this year due to its powerful healing properties), and comfrey root.

H2a Botanicals products are synthetic fragrance-free, paraben free, and GMO free. These beautifully formulated skin care products from Nature have no artificial fillers, are small batched, and curated with a sacredness, authenticity, and love.

HOW TO USE I give the bottle a gentle shake, then apply 2 pumps onto clean hands, and massage the cleanser around my face, jaw, upper neck and ears, working it through for at least a full minute or two before rinsing off with warm water and towel drying my skin. I follow with the H2a Botanicals Rosehip, Saffron + Emerald Face Serum around my eyes and mouth, most other areas of my face don’t require any other oil as this cleanser offers enough moisture for those areas.

Nature gives us to many powerful ingredients that work in harmony with our entire being, let’s look more into the heal-thy properties of the chosen plants used:

Sunflower oil’s abundance of vitamins, anti-oxidants, and fatty acids harmonise with the skin to clean, moisturise, and regenerate. It is easily absorbed into the skin without clogging pores, and is even said to help reduce the appearance of enlarged pores (most likely from cleaning away grime).

The Vitamin E content of sunflower oil helps reduce wrinkles, fine lines, and collagen damage, due to the high antioxidant properties, it also helps to prevent blemishing and offers protection against the damaging effects of overexposure to the sun. Sunflower Oil is said to assist in evening out skin tone and offering a radiance to complexion

Olive oil is another abundant source of vitamins, anti-oxidants, and fatty acids. It is fast and easily absorbed by the skin, reaching the deepest layers of skin, offering immense hydration. It is also rich in Vitamin E as well as Vitamin K, which helps the body heal wounds, bruises, and areas affected by surgery. The basic functions of vitamin K are also said to help certain skin conditions, such as stretch marks, spider veins, scars, dark spots, and circles around the eyes (dark circles around the eyes could also be related to a deficiency in diet, stress, low sleep, it is worth seeking the guidance of a holistic health professional if this is constant).

Saponification is a process where the oil is mixed with lye and water, then heated. The saponification reaction results in soap and glycerine and the water evaporates from the heat, this allows the oil to mix well with other ingredients as well as create a slight foaming texture.

Also known as ‘Blessed Seed Oil’, this oil is known to be have been used by the Ancient Egyptians, with a bottle of black cumin seed oil being found in the tomb of Tutankhamen and references suggesting it was used by Queen Nefertiti who was known for her remarkable beauty. It is said to remedy all kinds of dis-ease!

The seeds of the black cumin plant contain over 100 chemical compounds, some of the most commonly known vitamins and minerals include vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B3, folic acid, calcium, iron, copper, zinc, and phosphorous.

Rose is the ultimate beauty and love ingredient, it is said to vibrate at the same frequency as love! The basic medicinal properties of rose is said to stimulate and harmonise the immune and nervous system. It is said to revive cells, heal mucous membranes, and fight microbial imbalances. It contains vitamin C, carotene, B group vitamins, and vitamin K.

Topically red clover is said to be effective in slowing down signs of ageing on the skin, as well as lowering inflammatory skin conditions like psoriasis, eczema, and various rashes. It has anti-inflammatory, UV protective, collagen-boosting and wound-healing properties, most likely because red clover boosts estrogen. Estrogen is said to improve skin by increasing collagen content, skin thickness and moisture.

White willow is highly astringent, anti-inflammatory, and contains skin soothing properties. It also contains salicylic acid, which is known as a natural exfoliant that can help skin shed dead cells while clearing pores. It also contains potent components that help with skin rejuvenation and is highly moisturising.

This infamous skin healing herb boasts potent antimicrobial, antiviral, and antioxidant properties. It is said to help improve skin firmness and hydration, as well as increase blood flow and oxygen to wounds, and infected areas, which helps the body to heal effectively by growing new tissue.

Thyme is a powerful detoxifying herb, it is a great immune system booster that encourages white blood cell formation while increasing resistance to foreign organisms, it is antiseptic, antifungal, and a powerful antioxidant. It is said to help tone skin, and is known to have been widely used by the Ancient Egyptians, Ancient Greeks, and Romans for the wide spectrum of medicinal properties.

Yarrow, a herb of Venus, is said to heal all issues of the mind, blody, and spirit, a medicinal herb broadly known and respected from cultures dating back to the Ancient Greek and Ancient Egyptians. Legend tells that Ancient Greek hero Achilles used yarrow during the Trojan War, to treat his and his soldier’s wounds. It has a beautiful aroma, and is highly antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, pain relieving, staunches bleeding and assists in boosting circulation. It is a rich healing herb!

Is known to speed up the healing process of wounds, it is noted to take caution when using on open wounds however. In beauty care, it is said to reduce pain associated with arthritis, sunburn and other skin irritations.
