CELLULAR LEVELS FACE OIL
Considering our skin sponges up everything we put on it, it makes no sense having a daily skincare routine that contains anything highly processed or made from synthetic chemicals. The process of creating synthetic chemicals are not often transparent, neither is their effect of us holistically, most of their names are hard to pronounce, or even more confusing are abbreviated with letters and numbers, and a lot of them try to mimic what Nature already presents to us. Anything too processed confuses our body and is interpreted as a 'foreign body'/toxin that needs to be eliminated back out of our system. When we lather on synthetic products we distrub the natural balance and intelligence of our body with and in Nature. I do not want to give my body any unnecessary work to filter out toxins from my system, especially when there are nourishing, affordable organic skincare options readily available. Nature appears to have everything under control, I trust her more than I do a scientist, so anything that goes on my skin daily must be non toxic to my system, otherwise I feel I'm loading my system with too much work and hindering my immune system, without anything to gain.
As we just entered winter I have needed a more nourishing and moisturising face oil, I found this really affordable mix of hemp seed, rosehip and jojoba oils called Cellular Levels, by The Good Oil, up in Byron Bay. I was a little worried the hemp would be too oily and block my pores, the first three days I noticed very tiny red spots pop up it did seem a bit too heavy for my skin, but I perservered to be sure, and after about four days of using it my skin balanced back out. A week on it is doing wonders for me.
It is deeply moisturising (I'm prone to dry skin in winter, even though I eat lots of good fat oils), it seems to give my face a splash of colour each time I apply it, I feel like my skin has more elasticity to it, being so well moisturised, and I've been in the sun a bit these past few days so the combination has also given me a light golden glow.
HOW TO USE AS A FACE MOISTURISER
Simply apply 3 - 5 drops to a clean face and massage in and around the face (use sparingly on oil prone areas, I don't apply much to the centre of my forehead unless I'm using it as a face wash.
HOW TO USE AS A FACE WASH
I have also been using the oil to wash my face at night, I simply massage 4 drops all over my face, then wash a soft cotton muslin cloth under hot water and apply the warm cloth to my face, continue to wipe off excess oil (+ dirt + grime), with the cloth, once wiped, wash the cloth again under hot water and then rinse in cold water, pat the cold cloth over the face to close pores. Your face should feel fresh and balanced, if it is a little dry I add a drop or two more of the oil to moisturise further, but most nights I haven't needed the extra oil.
