BEAUTY IN A WOMAN

Beauty in a woman for me, is her level of confidence above all else.

More specifically, it is someone who has learnt to be both fearlessly and unapologetically themselves in this world (I’m still working on this, it is much easier said than done for me, as I always get an after hit of guilt if I upset others.)

As I continue to learn, we need to also consider ourselves in the equation of upsetting others, as we might not be aware that we upset ourself in order to avoid upsetting another, which is equally unfair. We also most certainly cannot please everyone nor should we try! I feel it is important for us to learn and practice compassion and tolerance for each other in order to live harmoniously, however sometimes we will simply need to put our foot down, and strike out our firm side in order to hold clear boundaries for our self wellbeing. We cannot possibly please everyone in this world as we all have such unique views and unique values for what kind of life we want to experience - what we can control however is our tolerance and mindfulness of these differences, and therefore our compassion and space for each other!

On a physical level, I see so much beauty in woman who values their wellbeing, enjoy nourishing themselves / food that makes them glow, women who are unafraid to splash their face with water in the morning and walk out the door, who don’t need to hide behind any make-up, but will instead choose to wear make-up for the fun of getting dolled up (rather than out of fear of being flawed). I see beauty in a woman’s unique character, when they know elements of what they love about life, and share those views joyfully with others, I see so much beauty in women who action how they feel over what they think - today I ran and jumped in the shallow white wash like a child because I was so thrilled by the site of a full rainbow amongst storms clouds and rain drops, I ran in and out of the water like a mad woman high as a kite because the ocean felt like a warm spa bath contrasted by the cold, bitter wind! When I was 18 my cousins in London showed me how fun it is to dance exactly as your body feels to move rather than how your mind thinks you should based on how you may look, that was my first conscious moment of realising how fantastic both self confidence and authenticity is. From that moment on I decided to do what feels GOOD and FUN, authenticity feels SO good, and if it looks ridiculous to another, you will not even notice, because everything just feels so damn good! You feel free, and so connected to Spirit! For me, all of these elements are what create beautiful women, compassion, strength, authenticity and aspects of fearlessness.

May we all learn what lights us up, and never feel that we have to hide any elements of our being (mental, physical, emotional), may we be as authentic as our awareness allows, and keep experiencing the joy from everything that is meaningful to us! May our daughters know that they are born beautiful, whole, complete, powerful and intuitive! May they know that just like flowers that start out as a bud, they will continue to blossom through different stages of womanhood with their inner beauty that will continuously shine through – may they know that everything that is unique to them, is their absolute gift!
