WHAT IF WE PRE-CHOSE OUR PARENTS II

WHAT IF WE PRE-CHOSE OUR PARENTS II

What if we pre-chose our parents based on the lessons we wanted to learn?

A lot of us I feel have a perspective of our childhood based around lack, we feel we missed out on certain privileges that other children had or experienced when we compare our upbringing to theirs, or to those perceived in mainstream media and movies. However, what if we pre-chose our parents based on the lessons we wanted to learn –  what if before we incarnated, we chose our parents knowing that the context we would be born into would shape us as a certain kind of human being, that we would learn through experience and observation of the person we would, and would not, want to be in this world.

We only ever really learn something through experience, so everything we learnt through our upbringing becomes a gift. That does not mean we have to accept and be what we were taught, sometimes we learn through polarities, we may have experienced something/s that we really did not enjoy or approve of, therefore deciding to not show up in the world with those qualities, and  not repeating those experiences for anyone else is a big gift for others, and those who learn through you!

This is a concept that is shared extensively in spiritual texts, it is a seed of thought that gives us the space to contemplate both our upbringing and who we are in this present moment – contemplating if we really did pre-choose our own parents makes us then wonder why we chose them, and with that we are able to start seeing what we have gained from our upbringing! It also gives us compassion towards our parents, although we may not align with all of their truths and we may not believe in everything they stand for, we can know they did their absolute best, even if that is the absolute worst in your opinion, know that for their own context and based on their upbringing it is no doubt their absolute best.

So what have you gained, what are your gifts to the world, how do you enjoy being treated and therefore treat others? How do you want to show up in this world, and how do you show up?
